On My Mind...
I want to take just a second to welcome Russell to the church staff. I’m looking forward to working with Russell and I’m excited about his vision for the music ministry of our church. I appreciate his understanding of worship, the role of music within the worship of the church and his commitment and desire to equip and engage the whole congregation. A desire and commitment to use the choir, and others who are gifted vocally and instrumentally, to enhance and encourage our worship while understanding the primary instrument of worship is the congregation. Worship, after all, is a “participation” sport not a “spectator” sport. I ask you to be in prayer for Russell as he settles into the job and begins to make plans for the future.
Speaking of music, don’t forget Children’s Choir starts on Sunday, September 15. They will meet immediately after the morning worship service downstairs in the Children’s Choir Room. Pray for Madysen and Susan as they work with our kids. Also, don’t forget Good News Club at Robertson Elementary begins on Monday, September 16. Pray for Karen Collins and our Good News Team as they take the Gospel to the students at Robertson. Pray that the seeds of the Gospel find fertile soil in the hearts and minds of the kids who attend the club each week. There is still the need to help with snacks for Good News Club. If you could provide juice boxes, boxes of granola bars, Rice Krispie treats or other snacks, it would be greatly appreciated. Due to allegories, please no peanut products. Of course, they could always use a few extra bodies to help on Mondays. See Karen Collins if you have any questions.
Have a blessed week and I’ll see you Sunday.
