On My Mind...

It was great to hear the mission report Sunday evening!  I’m grateful for Nathan and Maryem’s leadership in this mission work.  I’m thankful for all those who served as the hands, feet and voice of Christ that week.  Thank you for ministering to the hurting at the Home of Protection.  Thank you for investing in the lives of the young people who came to the camp.  Thank you for caring for the practical needs by the various construction projects, but most of all, thank you for sharing the gospel.  Thank you for telling the story of a Great God who brings hope and healing.  Thank you for representing us and our King in such a worthy manner!

As you heard, there is great need in Nicaragua, and it seems as if our Lord has opened a door of opportunity for us.  Pray as we seek to discern the Lord’s will in establishing a long-term commitment to the folks there.  This would involve a financial commitment and sending teams on a regular schedule.  The fields are white unto harvest and we want to be faithful to do our part in this kingdom work.

I also want to remind you of the 3rd Annual Westside Giveback.  It will be held on Saturday, August 9, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  This is an event to provide school supplies and backpacks for local students.  The event will also include haircuts, food and music.  We have chosen to supply a couple of items for this event.  The goal is to provide 300 of each item.  We’ve chosen to supply 150 reams of copy paper and 300 pocket folders with brads.  Due to the logistics, it seemed best to us to take up an offering for the paper.  We will order 15 cases of paper (that is half of the total amount needed) and then to ask you to bring 300 of the pocket folders.  We need $625 to purchase the paper.  We’ve shopped around and our best deal is through Sam’s Club.  The sooner we have the money the sooner we can purchase the paper.  We will need to have the folders by Wednesday, August 6.  You can bring the folders when you come to services, or you can drop them by the church office at your convenience.

You can pick up the pocket folders at Walmart, Target, Amazon or anywhere that has school supplies.  Kylie Harris will be helping us coordinate.  It would also be great if you could be there for this event representing us in the community.  If you have any questions you can speak to Kylie or call us here in the office.  Thank you for your help with this project!

I also want to thank brother Steve Sezate for filling the pulpit when I was gone.  He always does an outstanding job, and I’m greatly encourage, to know that you will be well fed in my absence.  Don’t forget, our quarterly business meeting is this Wednesday, July 23.  We will meet in the Fellowship Building at 6:30.

I will see you Sunday as we gather for worship.  Have a blessed week!
