On My Mind...
I just want to take a moment and thank those who participated in our work day this past Saturday. We had a good crew who showed up at 8:00 am and work until after 3:00 pm! We got a lot done. Two new doors installed on the youth house, blinds added to the youth house as well. We also fix a couple of lights in fellowship hall and in the library as well as replacing many bulbs! There was some work done in a couple of flowerbeds, sustended ceiling work in the basement, massive cleanout in closets and classrooms and a few other little jobs. The truth is, there is more to be done but we got an awful lot done Saturday, thank you.
As announced Sunday, there is a change in our plans for the mission trip this summer to Nicaragua. We are still going but we’ve added a medical componnent. We now, along with our work at the Emmanuel Home of Protection and youth camp will be seeing 200-300 folks in a medical clinic. This means we will scale back on the number of projects at the home and an increase in our overall budget to include medical supplies, beans and rice and Bibles. This is not what we planned but our Sovereign and gracious God was not caught off guard so we are confident that He will supply our needs. It also means that we have another 200-300 who will have the opportunity to hear the gospel, who otherwise would not have. Pray as we seek additional personnel and supplies and work out the logistics on the new plan. Also, we had planned on raising $6,500 for the projects and camp. That amount will now increase. We will get a better number as soon as we are able. Thank you for your understanding and your faithfulness. You can give now, just make sure that the gift is marked, “Nicaragua 2026.”
I also wanted to let you know, we have one family affected by the storm that came through last week. Jim and Karen Hart’s home was damaged by the tornado. There are temporarily out of their house and while they have insurance, there are added expenses. So, you do have opportunity to give to a love offering to offset some of those expenses. If you would like to give just make sure you mark it, “Hart love offering,” so it gets to them. Again, thank you for your faithfulness and generosity.
Sunday evening, April 26, we will have a “family gathering” in our evening service. This will be a time to give an update on our Church Study Groups’ work on our church documents and answer any questions about their work. We also will take time to discuss and answer questions about the mission trip and where we are in that process (hopefully we will have some clarification by then).
Have a blessed week and I will see you Sunday.
