On My Mind...
Thank the Lord for a great day yesterday. It is always a joy to gather with you for worship but especially when we celebrate the Lord’s Table in worship. I hope that you had an enjoyable weekend as we celebrated America’s 250th birthday. The storms may have dampened some spirits and postponed some fireworks, but we have some persistent neighbors who didn’t seem to mind the rains! In fact, they celebrated well into the earlier morning for several days now.
I wanted to let you know that we have scheduled a time for gathering to hear a report from the mission team and their work in Nicaragua. Due to the fact that we had several from other churches and looking at everyone’s schedule, we are going to gather on Friday evening, July 31 at 6:30 pm for the mission report. We will sing, read some Scripture, hear from our team and have a time for questions. Then we will go over to the fellowship building and enjoy some desserts. We would like for you to bring some goodies to share that evening. We will give you more details as the service gets a little closer. In the meantime, watch your email for a report from Nathan and Maryem. The letter is very encouraging. I look forward to the full report. Thank you for your prayers and your support.
I also wanted to let you know we are pushing back our quarterly business meeting one week. It will be on Wednesday, July 29. We have several issues to address related to some maintenance issues. Also, don’t forget the backpacks for the Westside Give Back on August 8. We have committed to supplying 30 (15 clear for the junior high and high school, and 15 for the elementary). To date we have 4 (2 each). There is plenty of time, but it will be here before we know it. Also, if you would like to help man our booth and represent us at this event, we would love to hear from you!
On a personal note, it has been my joy to be your pastor for the past 35 years (I know, it seems much longer to you). I hope that I’ve been some encouragement to you and have aided in your spiritual life and development. I’m sure I have failed you in many ways but pray that the good has outweighed the bad. You have been a blessing to me and my family. I appreciate the encouragement and the kindness shown to us. You have been my family sense I was a 9–10-year-old boy and I’m grateful. I pray the Lord grants us many more years together.
Have a blessed week and I’ll see you Sunday.
