On My Mind...
As I mentioned in service yesterday, thank you for supporting the Westside Give Back. We served 134 families with 337 kids getting school supplies. Each got a backpack, paper, pencils, pens, markers, paper towels, sanitary wipes, and notebooks. The Gideons were there giving out Bibles, there were also hair care folks offering haircuts (I think about 36 haircuts were done during that 2 hours). There was clothing available, up to 8 items per child, Tamale Boyz were serving tacos, police and EMSA were there interacting with kids and families. It was a great event! Thanks to Victoria Findley, Teresa Smith, Kylie, Emma and Elly Harris, and Nathan Foote for manning our booth, and thank you for giving. We look forward to next year.
School is starting up this week, and we are planning on serving the Webster football team with game day meals again this year. Jerry and Lisa Scott will be heading that up. I’m to meet with school officials this week on that. Webster will also be doing the mentorship program again this year. If you have any interest in serving you can talk with Keith Cannon or Jerry McCaskill for more details. Of course, we will be holding Good News Club again at Robertson. That will start up in mid-September. You can talk with Karen Collins if you are interested in helping with that. We are grateful for the opportunities the Lord has given us to been in our local schools and serving in the name of our Lord. Pray for these efforts. Pray for the students who will be impacted, the teachers and administrators that they see us as allies coming along side to better serve the community. Pray for opportunities to speak and demonstrate the truth of the Gospel.
Pray for our nominating committee as they finish up their work. They are in the home stretch with just two committee positions to fill. There is one opening on the nominating committee and one on the kitchen committee. If you would like to serve on either, I’m sure they would welcome any volunteers! You can talk to Ron Lundin if you are interested. Our church study group is nearing completion on the church constitution and about to begin work on the by-laws. We will be scheduling a Sunday evening soon for review and update on our progress. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
Have a blessed week and I’ll see you Sunday.
