On My Mind...
We have our quarterly business meeting this week. We will gather on Wednesday, October 21, at 6:30 pm in the fellowship building. I hope that you will be there. It’s important that we take care of business together. At our core, we are a congregationally ordered body. That means that you, the membership, make the decisions. We do business as a family. Your voice matters and your vote counts. We will be hearing reports on our finances, from various committees and ministries. This is the meeting in which we approve those who will be serving in the various offices and on various committees for 2026-27. We also, at this meeting, will vote on messengers for the TMBN (associational) Annual Meeting and the state convention. Our TMBN Annual Meeting is Sunday, November 1, at Woodland Acres Baptist Church on Harvard Avenue and the state convention this year is at South Tulsa Baptist Church on Sheridan Avenue.
Pray for our deacon process as we are working through it. We are in the process of talking with those who have been nominated to see if they are open to serving. Next will be a training phase, followed by interviews, then a recommendation back to the church by our deacons to set aside for service those who finish the process and have the backing of our current deacon body. Because the office of deacon is one of the two offices given to the church by our Master, we take the process seriously and carefully seek the Lord’s leadership throughout. Thank you for your prayers and patience.
Soon, our finance committee will begin working on our budget for 2027. If you are in charge of an area of ministry, please begin to think through your budget needs for next year. In the next few weeks, we will be asking you to submit your requests.
Have a blessed week,
Rod
