Volunteer Positions
There are many opportunities for volunteers at St. John. Hospital volunteer work can be as varied as working in the gift shop, delivering flowers, transporting patients or assisting staff with patient care or clerical duties. Volunteer positions exist in more than 40 areas of the medical center, St. John Hospice and St. John Owasso. Special skills are not required and training is provided. Volunteer positions are available weekdays, evenings and weekends. All St. John volunteers share a set of values that includes a strong desire to serve their community, compassion and a reverence for human dignity.
General Information
Adult volunteers must complete an application, interview and reference check before becoming eligible to join the St. John Auxiliary. Auxiliary members attend orientation and three meetings each year, pay dues ($10 per year), and proudly wear a traditional hospital volunteer uniform purchased locally at their own expense.
Junior volunteers must have completed the 8th grade and be between the ages of 14 and 18. Teens can volunteer in a special intensive summer program or newly added, more flexible school year program. The application process for the summer program closes April 30th. School year applications are accepted August through February.
