On My Mind...
Well, I think maybe winter has arrived! At least that was my thought as I stepped out on this balmy 16-degree morning. It made me thankful for the warm fellowship we enjoy. Thank you for your vote of confidence Sunday morning in approving our 2025 budget. Our commitment is to be faithful stewards of our funds and diligent in our oversight. I’m grateful to our budget and finance committee and their faithfulness in overseeing and stewarding the gifts you give.
Sunday will be a special day as we celebrate both the ordinances our Lord has given to His church. We will witness a baptism and celebrate the Lord’s Table this Sunday morning. Baptism is a public affirmation of new life in Christ. The means by which we declare our union with Christ, our death to an old way of life and resurrection to new life in Christ. The Lord’s Table is our on-going confession of life in Christ, our union with Christ and with fellow believers. Both are celebrated publicly as a church, because neither is an individual matter. Both are a time for public declaration and public affirmation. As we baptize and as we partake of the Table we, as a church, affirm one another in the faith. This is why your presence is so important at both. This is our statement together. I trust you will do your best to be present as we gather this coming Lord’s Day.
I also want to thank the deacons for their service this past week at our annual New Year’s Breakfast. We had a great time of fellowship around the tables and I appreciate the planning and the work put in early New Year’s Day. It started slow, with just a trickle at 8:00 am, but soon the room was full and steady until after 10:00 am. I think the count was 160 served and, as far as I know, there was no sickness due to the food served! I always enjoy our family gathering and we had a number of visitors this year.
I’m looking forward to worshiping with you and your family, as we gather this Sunday. Have a blessed week, and I’ll see you Sunday.
