On My Mind
I want to take just a moment and thank everyone who participated in our Good Friday Service. Thanks to Carlene, Monty and Madysen for reading, the choir for their beautiful anthem and the deacons for serving the Lord’s Table. I also want to thank you for your participation. We had a great crowd, and I’ve heard many comments about the impact of the service. It was a simple, reverent service. We sang and read through Matthew’s account of the cross. No bells and whistles, no special lighting, no drama just the power of the Word and the wonder of the gospel. That brings me to the last person I want to thank. I want to thank Russell for putting this service together. My part was to say, “Sure, it sounds great to me.” I appreciate the time and thought he put into this service and all our services. We are blessed by his leadership. I’ve been blessed for the last 34 years to have men that I’ve loved and trusted to serve with, men who have partnered with me in the work of the gospel. I’m grateful for our growing friendship, our theological discussions, the encouragement and our disagreements as we seek to challenge and push one another toward greater faithfulness.
Now that we are past Easter, I want to turn our attention toward the mission trip to Nicaragua scheduled for June 27 - July 4. Nathan and Maryem Smith will be leading a team of 26 to partner with local BMDMI churches in running a youth camp for about 70 campers over 2 days and working with Emmanuel Home of Protection. This will involve various projects ensuring that the home meets government standards for such a facility as well as projects to encourage and minister to the residents. The team will also be engaged in evangelistic events during the week. Eight of the 26 team members are from our church, Nathan, Maryem, Elliiot, Knox and Evie Smith, Kevin Foote, Bob Lowery and Faith Narrin. The cost for team members is $1,644 for adults and $1,344 for children. You may give to help these team members and their expense by marking your envelop, “Nicaragua Scholarship” and the individual’s name. Your gift will be tax deductible. In addition to these gifts, we have committed to raise $6,000 to pay for materials, translators and other supplies for the various projects. Again, you must mark your envelop, “Nicaragua Project.” Gifts so designated will go towards the $6,000 goal. Thank you, in advance, for giving to make this project a reality.
I look forward to gathering with you for worship this coming Lord’s Day!
